Suzuki tops the 2026 ‘What Car?’ Reliability Survey

5th October 2026

Swift Hybrid (Ultra version), 2024.

Suzuki tells us…

Suzuki is very pleased to announce that it ranks first place in the latest What Car?Reliability Survey, moving up to the top of the league table from 3rd position in last year’s analysis. With a score of 97.8%, Suzuki was a clear 2% higher than the next manufacturer.

The long-established reliability survey is carried out annually, conducted in association with MotorEasy and What Car? measures the experiences from owners of vehicles up to five years old. In the latest survey, over 39,300 What Car? readers responded from across 30 brands and 225 different models.

Individual models are also surveyed and the good news for Suzuki continued with the Swift model (2017-2024) ranking equal first place in the Supermini section of the survey – with zero faults reported by owners.

In the small SUV class, Vitara was close behind too with an overall score of 97.6% and way ahead of the Class average of 91.7%.

Claire Evans, consumer editor of What Car? comments: “Suzuki has triumphed in the 2026 What Car? Reliability Survey, after seven years of being a close runner up. Its rating of 97.8% signifies that almost all owners told us about had an exemplary reliability record. Best of all is the previous generation Swift, which is one of only two models to gain a perfect 100% rating this year, meaning that none of the examples reported on by owners suffered any faults whatsoever”

Claire Evans continues: “The brand’s overall fault rate of 10% is the lowest in this year’s survey, and all of the cars that did have a flaw were fixed for free – impressive when you consider that many will have been outside the three-year new car warranty period”

Suzuki owners have much further peace of mind too and way past the five-year ownership mark with up to 10 years warranty offered free of charge. Suzuki’s Service Activated Warranty is renewed by the customer once their car reaches the end of its manufacturer warranty period of three years / 60,000 miles and is booked in for its annual service within the Suzuki Dealer network.

The warranty stays in place until the next qualifying service and is simply renewed again up to a maximum vehicle age of 10 years / 100,000 miles. Major components are covered and should a customer decide to sell their car between services and within the 10-year qualifying period, the warranty can simply be transferred to the next owner – again free of charge.

The e VITARA model also has up to 10 years EV battery warranty included with eight years manufacturer followed by a further two which are service activated.
