Electric Volkswagen e-up!

Author/Source: Kim Henson

7th April 2013

70862vw_the_volkswagen_e_up_01Volkswagen has announced its first fully electric production vehicle, the four seater ‘e-up!’.

The e-up! Will be powered by an 82PS motor, which will enable the car to reach 62 mph from rest within 14 seconds, and it is said that it will have a range between charges of 150 km (about 100 miles). Its battery can be recharged to up to 80 per cent of its storage capacity with half an hour.

The driving range is still not far enough for many potential buyers, but the car will doubtless appeal to those requiring commuter transport in urban areas, and for fairly short distance family motoring.

The vehicle is to make its show debut at the Frankfurt International Autoshow in September 2013, with first UK customer deliveries expected from early 2014.

Our well-respected contributors live and breathe motor cars; aren’t we lucky?

Contributors to the site include talented, highly-respected people (so they tell me) on the hallowed membership list of the Guild of Motoring Writers, and from the similarly well thought-of Western Group of Motoring Writers. In addition there are valued contributions from other knowledgeable and capable motoring writers who have something useful to say about all aspects of driving and running vehicles in the 21st Century. All of our team are passionate about motor cars!
