Skoda Enyaq EV – Road Test

6th December 2021

The pure electric Skoda Enyaq iV 80 tried and tested by Robin Roberts (and Miles Better News Agency). The five-seat pure-electric Skoda Enyaq sits at the top of their range and takes them into a new sector populated by premium brands which command very high prices and can mask the cost of their pure-battery technology. In that comparison, the Enyaq is not that expensive but to anyone who … [Read more...]

Kia e-Niro – Road Test

1st September 2021

The Kia e-Niro3 64kwH is not such a gamble as Robin Roberts (and Miles Better News Agency) found out... Asians reputably love gambling, which goes some way to explain why the South Korean SUV styled 5-door Kia Niro is available with three power options including an all-battery version. But it’s not so much of a gamble to introduce and sell the e-Niro BEV because it’s one of the best of its … [Read more...]

MG ZS EV – First Impressions

18th July 2019

Chris Adamson samples the latest – and all-electric – MG. (Photos by Chris Adamson – the red car – & MG Motor). MG’s sporting heritage doesn’t automatically make you visualise the famous British brand as a leading exponent of electric vehicles. But that is where the now Chinese owned marque is heading (albeit a little late) with the launch of its first electric vehicle and plans for a … [Read more...]

Changing vehicle technology requires new skills…

7th March 2019

A new technology time-bomb is ticking in the used car trade. Robin Roberts reports. Rapidly changing vehicle technology means that the remarketing sector is going to have to undergo an unprecedented period of upskilling over the next decade, says the Vehicle Remarketing Association. The organisation – which represent companies that handle, sell, inspect, transport or manage more than 1.5 … [Read more...]

EV shock news

19th May 2018

Motorists have a potentially lethal ignorance about the servicing and maintenance of electric vehicles... A survey for the Institute of the Motor Industry revealed a widespread lack of awareness about the benefits – and risks - of electric motoring. Some 82% of drivers said they feel they don’t know enough about electric vehicles to wave goodbye to their petrol/diesel while two thirds (66%) … [Read more...]

MG Electric Vehicle Concept car – on the road

28th November 2014

An electrically powered MG? Certainly! Kim Henson reports. During a recent, fascinating tour of MG’s assembly plant and Technical Centre at Longbridge, Birmingham (to read about this, please click HERE), I was given the chance to test-drive a prototype of MG’s ‘EV (Electric Vehicle) Concept’ car. This is a small, electrically-powered, front wheel drive four seater, built on a … [Read more...]

Electric vehicle land speed record

8th July 2013

At a time when attention to Land Speed Records is rightly being concentrated on the Bloodhound SSC project, attempting to lift the World Record to over 1,000 mph, it is interesting that, for the first time in nearly 40 years, a fresh and successful attempt has been made at the ‘World Electric Land Speed Record’ for lightweight electrically-powered vehicles. Under rules laid down by the FIA … [Read more...]

Electric Volkswagen e-up!

7th April 2013

Volkswagen has announced its first fully electric production vehicle, the four seater ‘e-up!’. The e-up! Will be powered by an 82PS motor, which will enable the car to reach 62 mph from rest within 14 seconds, and it is said that it will have a range between charges of 150 km (about 100 miles). Its battery can be recharged to up to 80 per cent of its storage capacity with half an hour. The … [Read more...]

Nissan LEAF

20th February 2013

Amidst much debate about the best way forward for electrically-powered cars, Kim Henson test drives a Nissan LEAF. HISTORY In recent times, increasingly high fuel prices, plus escalating concern over vehicle emissions, have helped to persuade motor manufacturers to revisit electric propulsion as a viable alternative to using the internal combustion engine. It may come as a surprise to some, … [Read more...]
