Kim Henson looks ahead to this annual springtime event celebrating all things classic automotive…

I have been attending Beaulieu’s annual Spring Autojumble for many years and am looking forward to going again this year too. Yes, I will be working, but I love the atmosphere and camaraderie of the event.

In addition to the hundreds of stalls selling classic vehicle components, plus complete cars for sale (in the Automart and Dealermart areas), this year there is a new Vintage Market selling purely vintage wares. These will include vintage and retro items such as clothing, collectibles, posters, vinyl, jewellery, homeware, furniture and toys.

The Sunday of the show (17th May) is set to feature a Classic Car Boot Sale, with vintage traders selling items from the boots of their pre-2000 classics.

The market includes live entertainment, a vintage catering unit and awards including Best Dressed Individual and Best Dressed stand.

On the Sunday too will be held the Land Rover Rummage and, for amateur autojumblers, Trunk Traders, selling motoring items from the boots of their cars.

There’s a special Classic Car Park on site, open to pre-2000 classics of all makes and models. Judges will select a daily Show Favourite to be awarded a trophy.
Classic car participants will also benefit from direct access to the Autojumble.
Tickets – available until 2pm on Friday 8th May, or before if capacity is reached – include access to all the Beaulieu attractions, not just the Autojumble. These include the National Motor Museum, We Had One of Those, On Screen Cars, Palace House, the WWII Secret Army Exhibition, Beaulieu Abbey and Little Beaulieu (adventure play area).

There will be car club displays in quantity, this year including the Retro Camping Club, with a display of classic caravans, in collaboration with the Caravan ands Motorhome Club Collection.

The Dorset branch of the Morris Minor Club will again be holding their ‘Moggyfest’ event, with up to 200 Minors and contemporary classics on show. This year their theme is ’70 years of the iconic Morris Minor 1000’, and the club will also be celebrating its own 50 years anniversary.

Our well-respected contributors live and breathe motor cars; aren’t we lucky?

Contributors to the site include talented, highly-respected people (so they tell me) on the hallowed membership list of the Guild of Motoring Writers, and from the similarly well thought-of Western Group of Motoring Writers. In addition there are valued contributions from other knowledgeable and capable motoring writers who have something useful to say about all aspects of driving and running vehicles in the 21st Century. All of our team are passionate about motor cars!
