More newcomers to classic car motoring benefit from the much-acclaimed Classic Car Loan Project, with the latest handover of vehicles taking place at The British Motor Museum, Gaydon…
20 young drivers have received a classic car on loan, for a whole year, at a Hand Over Day at The British Motor Museum. The cars are part of the Classic Car Loan Project (CCLP) which is sponsored by BMM to encourage the next generation of classic enthusiasts.
Tom Caren, Show Manager at BMM welcomed the group and the drivers were congratulated, on being selected, by CCLP Ambassador Sarah Crabtree and special guest Victor Riley.
Hospitality was courtesy of the Federation Skills Trust and Peter James Insurance.
The cars, with various marques featured, range from the 1930s – including Austin 7, 1960s – Morgan to Triumphs, Morris Minor and Riley, 1980s – Morris Ital and Peugeot, to 1990’s Rover and Ford Sierra.
Some cars are privately owned whilst others have been sourced by classic car clubs. All the young drivers are supported and mentored through the loan period.
Peter James Insurance, as a sponsor, provides the essential classic car insurance,
Motul supplied appropriate engine oil for each car.
Longstone Tyres was available to owners to ensure tyre safety as part of car preparation.
Bob Wilkinson, CCLP manager, said “I am delighted to have BMM sponsorship, and use of the excellent facilities, as we launch our 7th year of the project. Getting the next generation involved in a realistic driving and caring experience is essential. I am proud to be working with such responsible and enthusiastic young drivers. I hope more clubs will get involved in this kind of initiative.”
