Beaulieu tells us…
Beaulieu has welcomed a brand-new star to the attraction, as Peter Kay’s Fiat 500L from the award-winning series Car Share joins On Screen Cars.
Fans of the hit BBC and BAFTA winning comedy are now able to step into the world of supermarket assistant manager John Redmond and his colleague Kayleigh Kitson as the much-loved motor takes its place among Beaulieu’s celebrated On Screen Cars exhibition. The Fiat 500L, complete with its familiar red finish and everyday commute charm became a character in its own right across the show’s two series and finale specials.
The vehicle on display at Beaulieu is the genuine production used Fiat 500L from the TV series, complete with all the features fans will instantly recognise. The car arrives complete with signature features including the panoramic glass roof, the famously spacious interior that comfortably accommodated Kayleigh’s shopping bags and John’s lunchbox, and the distinctive dashboard layout that housed the essential radio delivering the show’s unforgettable soundtrack.
Whether you’re a die-hard fan of Peter Kay, a lover of British comedy, or simply someone who appreciates a good commute-based chuckle, the Fiat 500L promises to be a crowd-pleasing addition to this ever-changing exhibition of TV and film favourites. Unlike that unforgettable episode of Peter Kay’s Car Share, visitors are encouraged to come and see the car for themselves… just please leave without accidentally taking a real-life monkey home.
The car joins a line‑up that includes other vehicles that have become icons of British television including Gavin’s blue Citroën Saxo VTS, Smithy’s Volvo 850S Estate and Uncle Bryn’s reliable Citroën Xsara Picasso from the hit TV series Gavin and Stacey as well as Del Boy’s Reliant Van featured in the British sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
Other stars on display include the bewitched blue Ford Anglia which features in Harry Potter and the Chambers of Secrets, James Bond’s Jaguar XKR from the blockbuster film Die Another Day, Mr Bean’s Mini plus many more.
You can see the stars as part of a general admission ticket to Beaulieu, which includes the National Motor Museum and its brand-new gallery Driven: Britain’s Motoring History, interactive exhibition We Had One of Those, Palace House and the 13th-century Beaulieu Abbey, the Secret Army Exhibition as well as adventure play area Little Beaulieu.
