Cumbria Tourism has announced the finalists for its annual tourism awards, with the Lakeland Motor Museum earning a place on the shortlist for Small Visitor Attraction of the Year.

Located in the South Lakes, the museum, which recently celebrated a milestone one millionth visitor, has long been a favourite among motoring enthusiasts.  Its extensive collection boasts modern, classic and vintage vehicles alongside automotive memorabilia, bicycles and children’s toy cars spanning multiple decades. Its unique exhibits include dedicated displays celebrating the legendary Isle of Man TT and the achievements of the Campbell family, featuring replicas of the iconic Bluebird K7 and other historic vehicles.

As an independently owned attraction, Lakeland Motor Museum relies heavily on visitor support and the generosity of individuals who have donated or loaned items to its collection. In return, the museum actively engages with the community, hosting regular car club meetings free of charge.

Chris Lowe, Museum Curator, shared his enthusiasm for the nomination:
“We’re up against some really tough competition from a selection of amazing Cumbrian attractions, including The Beacon Museum, The Armitt, and Lakeland Maze Farm Park. Each offers a unique experience, so I’m really looking forward to celebrating alongside them all when the winner is announced.”

Open year-round, Lakeland Motor Museum continues to attract visitors from across the UK and beyond, reinforcing its reputation as one of Cumbria’s most distinctive and engaging attractions.
