Techtastic fun at The British Motor Museum this February half-term

16th January 2026

Craft, Code and Create – at the British Motor Museum this February half-term.

The Museum tells us…

(All words and photographs from The British Motor Museum).

This Half-Term from 14 – 22 February, the British Motor Museum offers families the chance to dive into a jam-packed week of fun activities. From coding to science shows and LEGO to techie tours, families can explore how design and technology shape the world in exciting and interactive ways!

After its huge success last year, the Museum has renewed its collaboration with coding workshop specialists ‘FUZE’, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the basics of coding using a Nintendo Switch® to create a car-themed game! The activity, which takes place from Monday to Friday, will involve ‘loading’ a race track level, selecting a vehicle from different 3D models and then controlling it. Children will be encouraged to change the vehicle and its attributes to affect aspects like its handling and performance. The vehicle can be changed into any 3D object, from a chicken to a dinosaur, or even a piece of cake!

Families can enjoy the popular Professor Pickle & Dr. Pumpkin performing mind-blowing experiments in their ‘Design Techsplosion’ Science Show. Professor Pickle is a firm believer in pencil and paper when designing a “horseless carriage”, but the forward-thinking Doctor Pumpkin is all about new technologies (17 – 20 February). At the weekends families can join the resident Designers for a ‘Techie’ Family Tour’, delving deeper into the collection and discovering all types of Tech! The ‘Beep-Beep, Yeah!’ exhibition and the ‘Driven by your Senses’ family trail combine to invite visitors to explore the sounds and songs of the motor car and embark on a journey of discovery around the Museum using touch, sight, hearing & smell.

Children can help make LEGO® brick model cars to be given to local community pantries in The Big Build 2 which takes place every day! Following the success of October half-term’s Big Build, the Museum is asking families for their help again in this community-minded project. There are thousands of LEGO® bricks to choose from to create all kinds of imaginative car models. The completed models will be donated to local community pantries and youth groups, where they will make their way to happy new homes! The Museum has delivered over 500 Brick Bank bags to community pantries since the scheme launched in November 2024.

Emma Rawlinson, Lifelong Learning Officer at the British Motor Museum, said, “Design and technology have always been fundamental to the incredible cars that make up Britain’s motoring history. The Museum has so much on offer this Half-Term enabling children to learn all about car design and technology in a fun and engaging way!”

Museum entry is just £18 for adults in advance or £21 on the day, £16 for concessions in advance or £19 on the day, £9 for children (5-16 years) in advance or £10 on the day and under 5s are FREE. There is also the option to Gift Aid or donate your entry fee and get an Annual Pass in return at no extra cost. With activities every school holiday this makes it a great value choice for families this Half-Term.
