Committee members and volunteers are putting the finishing touches to preparations for the Club’s big event of 2026 – its 66th International Rally – this year to be held near Gloucester.
The festivities begin as attendees gather at Painswick’s beautiful Rococo Garden on Friday 26th June, from where there is a guided road run to the Cheltenham Chase Hotel at Brockworth, host of the weekend’s events. On the Friday evening guests will enjoy a buffet dinner at the hotel.
On Saturday an exciting route has been planned, including a visit to Hopewell Colliery Museum and the chance to partake in an underground tour of the mine, followed by an afternoon at the Dean Valley Railway, complete with train ride and cream tea. Then it’s back to the hotel and a sumptuous gala dinner where we are delighted to welcome back James Walshe, deputy editor of Practical Classics magazine.
Sunday sees the actual rally itself where lines of Standard and other makes of car will line for judging and to be admired by visitors. There will be a spare parts bring and buy sale, a raffle and at the ned of the afternoon, James Walshe will present the prizes to the lucky winners.
All are welcome at the event, not just members of the Standard Motor Club, and for an entry fee of just £10, any cars can be included in the judging.
If you own a Standard or are an enthusiast of vehicles produced by the Coventry-based manufacturer, it is well worth joining the Standard Motor Club; for more information please go to:
