‘Museum on the Move’ at The British Motor Museum

12th April 2022

The British Motor Museum will be hosting a members’ only ‘Museum on the Move’ event on the evening of Friday, 29th April…

They tell us:

The British Motor Museum is to host a brand new and exclusive Members only event on Friday 29 April that will bring the car collection to life like never before. ‘Museum on the Move’ offers Members an exciting opportunity to ride in a selection of prestigious cars from the collection, such as the 1948 first Land Rover produced and the 1983 Metro 6R4 prototype (pictured below).

Cars being prepared for this very special evening event include the 1904 Wolseley 6hp, the 1907 Austin York Landaulette, the 1931 MG 18/80, the 1930 Rover Meteor Corsica Sedanca coupé, the 1948 Land Rover number one, the 1955 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire, the 1961 TVR Grantura, the 1966 Austin Healey 3000, the 1967 Rover P6BS, the 1980 Triumph Dolomite Sprint (last one) and the 1983 MG Metro 6R4 prototype 001. Please note the cars are subject to change.

Jeff Coope, Managing Director at the British Motor Museum said “We’re delighted to be hosting our first Museum on the Move event next month, giving Members the unique opportunity to ride in a selection of our cars.  We would urge anyone who is interested in the event but not already a Member, to join the scheme and discover more about the Museum and our work. Membership gives a wonderful opportunity to form a closer relationship with our collections and team, as well as providing a vital source of income for the Museum”.

Taking place from 4pm – 8:30pm, ‘Museum on the Move’ will start with drinks and canapés in the stunning Sky Suite, where guests will get the chance to meet and chat with specialists from the Collections Team, as well as fellow Members passionate about cars and British automotive history. Guests will then be introduced to the fabulous selection of cars and get the chance to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells as the engines are fired up ready for them to take a ride.

Access to ‘Museum on the Move’ is just one of the Membership benefits. Membership provides vital support to the Museum and its charity, helping it conserve, protect and share the fabulous collections of over 400 cars and millions of artefacts. Members also gain free entry to the Museum for 12 months (including show days), discounts in the Museum shop and café, exclusive opportunities to preview new exhibitions and much more.

Membership is available from just £3.50 per month or £42 for a year. There are Individual, Joint and Family options available, as either a Member or Premium Member. To find out more about membership of the British Motor Museum please visit www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/membership

Museum on the Move tickets are available free of charge to Premium Members with Members access charged at £25 per adult, £17.50 per child (where part of family Membership).  All tickets must be pre-booked.

Our well-respected contributors live and breathe motor cars; aren’t we lucky?

Contributors to the site include talented, highly-respected people (so they tell me) on the hallowed membership list of the Guild of Motoring Writers, and from the similarly well thought-of Western Group of Motoring Writers. In addition there are valued contributions from other knowledgeable and capable motoring writers who have something useful to say about all aspects of driving and running vehicles in the 21st Century. All of our team are passionate about motor cars!
