John H. Haynes, OBE, 25th March 1938 to 8th February 2019.

Legendary creator and publisher of technical motoring books, John H. Haynes OBE, will be sadly missed by countless do-it-yourself enthusiasts and mechanics he has helped over many decades…

Kim Henson pays tribute…

I was extremely sad to hear this evening (11th February) of the news of the passing of John H. Haynes OBE.

Countless car owners (including me, on many occasions) and technicians have been grateful for the comprehensive manuals produced by John and his team. With each manual based on a complete stripdown and re-assembly of the vehicle, these books take a huge amount of time and effort to produce…

I only met Mr. Haynes once (after I had written a few books in his ‘restoration’ series), but always enjoyed visiting the production hub at Sparkford, also the wonderful Haynes Motor Museum. A great and enthusiastic man, passionate about what he did and who helped so many motorists with his innovative books, and who will be sadly missed…
