OMODA E5 joins petrol engined OMODA 5 in achieving a five-star EuroNCAP safety rating.

The new all-electric OMODA E5 has been awarded a five-star safety rating in the latest test results from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). This result aligns with the petrol engined OMODA 5, which achieved a five-star score when it was tested in 2022.

To test the safety performance of the OMODA E5 and the integrity of its high-voltage battery, additional frontal offset, and oblique pole crash tests were conducted, with an 87% score for adult occupant protection and child occupant protection. The OMODA E5 also scored 88% in the safety assist system category, and 68% in the vulnerable road users category.

The OMODA E5 features a 78% high strength steel body, with key areas, including the front end, B-pillars and door sills, benefiting from extra rigidity for additional protection. The front steel structure resists frontal collision impacts, safeguarding the cabin space, while the side structure disperses impact forces to prevent door intrusion. In the frontal crash test, the occupant compartment remained stable, with no significant deformation of the A pillars and doors. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision, and an advanced eCall system, which alerts the emergency services in the event of a crash, is also available.

The OMODA E5 is also equipped with ergonomically designed child seat interfaces that are highly stable to ensure child passenger safety. In both the frontal offset and side barrier tests, protection of all critical body areas was good or adequate for both child dummies.

The OMODA E5’s active safety technologies also performed well. The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system, VRU (Vulnerable Road User) protection and Safety Assist systems performed seamlessly in handling challenges posed by road users. The AEB system could accurately identify targets across a wide speed range and responded quickly, reducing the risk of potential collisions.

As well as obtaining a five-star Euro NCAP rating, the OMODA E5 also excels in range comparison tests, with an impressive electric range of 257 miles (WLTP) . It can recharge from 30% to 80% in just 28 minutes.
