British Motor Museum wins an important Sandford Award for Heritage Education

4th October 2022

Sandford Heritage Education Award goes to The British Motor Museum…

They tell us:

The British Motor Museum’s Learning Team is proud to announce that they have once again won a highly coveted Sandford Award for Heritage Education. The award is an independently assessed, quality assured assessment of formal, curriculum-aligned learning with recognition given to informal learning such as family programmes and outreach. The aim is to encourage the development and maintenance of standards of education at heritage sites. The British Motor Museum is in good company as current holders of the Award include Stonehenge, Worcester Cathedral and the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh; official residence of Her Late Majesty The Queen in Scotland.

The judge was very impressed by the learning programmes and resources on offer at the British Motor Museum. In particular he praised the Museum’s “dynamic” learning offer that explores both the technical aspects and social history of the collection. He stated that “the enthusiasm and dedication to learning here is abundantly clear” and that “a visit to the British Motor Museum must be a joy.”

Claire Broader, Learning and Engagement Officer at the British Motor Museum said “We are absolutely delighted and proud to have once again won a prestigious Sandford Award. This is testament to the hard work and passion for learning demonstrated by the Learning Team”.

The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 7 December. For more information on the Sandford Awards please visit www.sandfordaward.org
