Apprenticeship opportunity at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour

2nd July 2026

Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour, Beaulieu River.

The Buckler’s Hard team tells us…

(Photographs and all words from the Buckler’s Hard Team).

An opportunity is being offered for a third apprentice to join the team at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour on the Beaulieu River. The successful trainee will follow in the footsteps of two previous apprentices, who both passed their final assessments with flying colours and in record time.

Beaulieu’s first apprentice Oli Rickard (pictured below) won the ViewHR Award for Apprentice of the Year in the 2024 New Forest Brilliance in Business Awards, while his successor George Dunsdon completed his apprenticeship in just over a year.

Harbour Master Wendy Stowe said: “Our next Marina Operative will have big shoes to fill, though we are keen to nurture our third apprentice and help them to achieve the same level of success.”

The new applicant will gain practical experience in marina, harbour and boatyard operations, while working alongside experienced colleagues to develop their knowledge, skills and high-quality customer service to start their career in the marine industry.

Applicants should be enthusiastic, keen to learn and become part of the well-respected Beaulieu River team – and have a strong interest in boating and marine business. They should be able to swim, have two GCSE passes or the equivalent and be over 18 years of age.

They will support the day-to-day operations at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour, while undertaking a nationally recognised Level 2 Marina & Boatyard Operative Apprenticeship in the beautiful setting of the Beaulieu River.

For the full details visit https://beaulieuriver.co.uk/careers-2/.

Apply by emailing your CV and a covering letter to recruitment@beaulieu.co.uk by July 19.

The new apprentice will help serve nearly 500 berth and mooring holders, as well as more than 10,000 visitors who stay at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour each year.

They also join as extra facilities are being offered by the recent redevelopment of the boatshed, providing stunning waterfront offices and workshops for marine-based businesses to relocate to one of the most desirable marinas on the south coast.

About the Beaulieu River

Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour was ranked as one of the UK’s best marinas by being placed in the top 5% of 5 Gold Anchors winners by The Yacht Harbour Association. It was also voted the best place for sailors to call home when it won the prestigious Marina of the Year title in British Yachting’s awards.

At the gateway to the New Forest National Park, it provides habitats for more than 200 species of birdlife. The custodianship of the Montagu family for over four centuries has kept it special, yet it is only a short sail from the yachting hub of Cowes.

A packed events calendar offers regular opportunities to bring together new and old friends in the Beaulieu River community, while a restaurant, pub and tea shop are on the doorstep at the 18th century shipbuilding village of Buckler’s Hard with its maritime museum.

For fully-serviced marina berths and river moorings availability call 01590 616200 or email harbour.office@beaulieu.co.uk.
